Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Randy Abbey, has said match-fixing allegations in the just ended Ghana Premier League has tainted the image of football in the country.
The league and image of Ghana football have been dented following allegation of match fixing between Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies in the last match of the league.
In an interview with Accra-based Asempaa FM, Randy said said he is disturbed by the allegations of match fixing in the league.
“Although in one breath am happy we have been able to complete a season, after a very long time, am also disturbed and disappointed by the fact the allegations of match-fixing, and violence will set the FA back but am hopeful how the FA deals with this issue will demonstrate its willingness and capacity to deal with such matters in future,” he said.
“The Ghana Football Association will use the Ashgold vs Inter Allies as a catalyst to deal with the betting issues in our game once and for all.”
