Ronaldo’s Portugal Annihilate Wales

The battle for supremacy between Portugal and Wales in the on going Euro 2016 all came to an end At the Parc Olympique Lyonnais,Lyon.

There’s no doubt that, this was the biggest game in Welsh football history! There was also the added spice of Real Madrid team-mates Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo going head-to-head!

The first 45 minutes ended goal less with Portugal not creating many clear cut chances Apart from Ronaldo’s half chance. Both Teams hoped to improve in the second half.It was indeed a cagey First half.
The first goal came in the 50th minute which was a set-back for Wales and it had to be that man Ronaldo! Mario took a short corner to Guerreiro, who whipped  in a dangerous cross. Ronaldo had to put in a huge leap to meet the ball and he powered a superb header past the helpless Hennessey. With that goal came another record for Ronaldo, who is now the joint-highest scorer in European Championship history level with Michel Platini.
The second goal came 3 minutes later with Wales  having a mountain to climb. Ronaldo sliced a wayward shot from 25 yards across goal and unfortunately for Wales it finds Nani, and the former Manchester United winger turned the ball past the wrong-footed Hennessey and into the back of the net.The match ended with Portugal Dominating.

The result means,Portugal are through to the final, they will know their opponent in the Final tomorrow after the host Nation France, takes on their German counterparts.

Even though,it was a loss for Wales, that didn’t stop them from a final farewell. What a tournament they had!
It’s joy for Ronaldo and Portugal, who reach only their second major tournament final.

  • Nani has netted three goals in his last six games for Portugal.
  • This is only Portugal’s second semi-finals victory in a major tournament (out of seven) and their first on foreign soil.
  • Wales failed to score for the first time in their last six games.
  • Since the start of 2015, Wales have failed to win any of their four games without Aaron Ramsey (D1 L3).
  • This was Portugal’s first win at EURO 2016 in normal time
