Controversy Over Daasebre Gyamenah’s Dead Body

Ghanaian highlife artiste Daasebre Gyamenah died early hours of Friday, July 29 in Accra. Ghanaians who have heard about the musician’s death poured their tribute on social media platforms to pay their last respect to him.

Information from close relatives of the late gives two different reports on the burial service of the deceased. Manager of the late musician tells Peace FM mid-day news that the late will be buried today but Uncle of the musician according to says otherwise. reports that, “Daasebre Gyamenah’s family say they won’t allow the late musician to be buried hours after he died in line with Islamic tradition”. According to the report, Uncle of the late musician, Yaw Boateng said in an interview that “his remains will be deposited at the St Joseph’s morgue in Koforidua as soon as it arrives from Accra.”

“According to the family, the musician, although he was a Muslim, he will not be buried in line with Islamic tradition because he was a royal from the New Juaben Traditional Area.

The remains of the musician has been conveyed from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) en route to Koforidua.

Daasebre Gyamenah was expected to be buried on Friday after Jumah prayers according to Islamic tradition.

But Yaw Boateng, an uncle to the late highlife musician, speaking in an interview with, said his remains will be deposited at the St Joseph’s morgue in Koforidua as soon as it arrives from Accra.

But a report on also says the musician will be buried today, Friday July 29 according to the demands of the Muslim religion. This the report said was communicated on Peace FM mid-day news by Papa Loggy, manager of the late.

“According to Daasebre’s manager who spoke on Peace FM News at 12 this afternoon, the Singer was a Muslim before he died and the religion demands that a deceased person is buried on the same day of death. He added that Daasebre’s Muslim name is Abukal Sidik.

At the time of filing this report, family of Daasebre had concluded all arrangements and his mortal remains is currently on the road from Accra to Koforidua where he lived with his family and he is expected to be buried there later today.” reported
