Sarkodie and Shatta Wale are unarguably two of Ghana’s biggest music acts.
They’ve collaborated on songs, performed together and show each other lots of support but one has an upper hand over the other – marketing.
The ‘Take It Back‘ rapper has managed to market his craft so well especially outside Ghana whilst the Dancehall act is struggling with getting his right.
Kiki Banson, former Manager of Becca believes that Wale has the potential to reach a wide audience if he is able to get his marketing right.
“Apart from Sarkodie I don’t see any other Ghanaian artist who is pushing his brand across the continent. I have a lot of respect for Shatta Wale. I see him doing well in Ghana but he has the capabilities to do what Sarkodie is doing and beyond. He is doing well but it’s left with the marketing,” said Banson to Dr. Cann on Showbiz Xtra on Happy FM.
“I have a lot of respect for the others. A lot of the artists have good material but the material will not sell itself. You will have to sell the material… the problem in my opinion is marketing outside Ghana. ”
