Angry Ghanaians have descended on Kumawood actress Matilda Asare over her “There’s nothing to be fixed” comment against the #FixTheCountry campaign on social media.
Matilda Asare made the statement on the United Showbiz program hosted by Nana Ama McBrown on Accra-based Television UTV.
In the interview monitored by Standupgh, she noted Ghana needed no fixing, adding that all the structures in the country were functioning properly.
“There is nothing to be fixed, State institutions are functioning properly, the government is fulfilling its 2020 manifesto promises, so Ghana is perfect and its citizens are okay”, she said.
She added “the protestors should be specific about what they want the Nana Addo-led government officials to do for them but should not join the #FixTheCountry campaign because they want to trend”.
But TV3 presenter, John Hughes, who reacted to her statement in a Twitter post wrote, “Kumawood Actress Matilda Asare says there is nothing to be fixed in this country. Even the people she is defending believe there is something to be fixed? Whew!”
One Dr. Ayigbe Borla Bird also wrote “Matilda Asare is on #UnitedShowbiz saying there is nothing to be fixed in the country. Let’s not talk about social amenities seff, let focus on the creative arts industry. How many movie actors dey make in Ghana. Can that sustain them in this country where the cost of living is high?”.
