21 People Believed To Be Sympathizers Of The LBTQ Society Remanded In Police Custody Over Unlawful Assembly In Ghana

At  least 21 suspected gays, lesbians and bisexuals have been remanded into police custody in Ho for what law enforcement officers called unlawful assembly.

According to the police, the 21 persons include 16 females and five males suspected to be gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, queer and intersex.

The police said they were remanded into custody on Friday, May 21, 2021 by the Ho Circuit Court for unlawful assembly at the Nurses and Midwives Hotel, Ho.

The police made this known in a statement dated May 21.

In recent months, there has been a strong movement to legitimize the operations of the LGBT+ in Ghana.
