Gyakie a budding musician and the daughter of Ghanaian highlife legend Ernest ‘Owoahene’ Nana Acheampong, has described how she wept bitterly after being booed off stage by some Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology students (KNUST)
According to the Ghanaian afro-fusion singer, she went to beg to perform at the Repu Hall Week in 2019 when she wasn’t well-known in the music industry.
However, while she was performing her song, the sound system went out, enraging the audience to the point where they began yelling for her to leave the stage.
“When I went backstage, I cried, I cried a lot because what I was going to do didn’t go as planned. Some of them were yelling, but others were trying to sing along,” she said in an interview.
She stated that the experience instilled in her a sense of resiliency, which has served as the foundation of her career up to this point, where she is adored all over the globe.
