Suspected armed robbers on Monday, June 14, reportedly shot dead a police officer and a young lady during a bullion van robbery at Adedeinkpo, Jamestown today.

Reports say, the police officer who was tragically killed was guarding the van, while the young lady was a bystander who witnessed the robbery.

The police officer has been identified as General Constable Emmanuel Osei of the national SWAT unit with service number 58449.

According to Mensah Abrampah of Adom News, the robbers, who were in taxi and on a motor bike, trailed the van carrying an unknown amount of cash.

This is the second time this year that a police officer has been killed in a bullion van robbery.

In January 2021, a police officer identified as Lance Corporal Martin Babah, died on the spot after he was shot by the robbers numbering about 10 at Adansi Fomena in the Ashanti Region. The robbers reportedly made away with an amount of GH¢500,000 which was in a bullion Van and one AK 47 assault rifle.
