Gospel musician Yaw Sarpong has quashed longstanding rumours that he is married to his longtime collaborator, Maame Tiwaa.
In an interview with Joy News’ Beck on E Vibes show, Yaw Sarpong relationship with Maame Tiwaa is platonic and familial.
According to him, because he has been working with Tiwaa for almost four decades, many people think they are married or somewhat romantically attached.
“Tiwa is not my wife. I picked Tiwa because of her talent and we’ve been working since 1981. Her first child stayed with me and my wife even before we started performing together,” he said.
“A lot of people kept asking how I’ve been able to work with her for that long. My wife knows Tiwa is not my wife and the people who know this can testify. These speculations became rife when our popularity kept expanding.”
Yaw Sarpong, who is married to another woman with four children, has collaborated with Tiwaa on almost all his records, including classics like, “Oko Yi”, “Waye Awie”, “Yen Kakyere Agya Se” and “Wo Haw Ne Sen”.
