Former Ivorian international, Yaya Toure has been appointed as assistant coach of Russian club, FK Akhmat.
The club announced the appointment in a statement released on their official website.
“Former footballer Yaya Toure has joined the coaching staff of the Thunderbirds. Head coach Andrey Talalaev will determine his duties as an assistant,” the statement read. “The contract with the specialist is calculated until the end of the 2021-22 season.”
The former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder began his coaching career at Ukrainian side Olimpik Donetsk.
In his illustrious football career, Yaya, now 38, won the African Footballer of the Year award four consecutive times. He is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation.
