The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has slammed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh for his insensitive comments about the recent spate of crime in the country.
During a visit to the family of the late police officer who killed during the bullion van robbery, the IGP appeared to have downplayed the high insecurity in the country by saying that the only place there is no crime is heaven.
But reacting to IGP’s comments in an interview with Neat FM, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP said the comments were about “irresponsible” and “needless”.
According to him, the IGP must quickly apologize to Ghanaians for his insensitive comments at the time of high insecurity in the country.
“He has to apologize to Ghanaians and the bereaved family. This is unacceptable,” he said.
