Ghana Water Company Limited have hit back at Ghana National Fire Service after they blamed the former for their failure to douse the Makola Fire outbreak.
In a press conference held Thursday, manager of the Accra East branch of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Emmanuel Johnson slammed Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for blaming their inefficiency in fighting the fire outbreak at Makola on them.
According to him, Fire Service are solely to be blamed for their inefficiency in fighting fire in the country, as they sell the water given to them to members of the public.
“It is public knowledge that the fire tenders which are supposed to be used specifically for firefighting are being abused,” he said.
“We have incidences littered across the length and breadth of the country, where officials of the GNFS sell water to the public and have complained to their offices and even some of their officials have come to our office to volunteer information to GWCL.”
