Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has reacted to reports in the media linking their captain Felix Annan to rivals Hearts of Oak.
Annan, who used to be the club’s no.1 goalkeeper, has been a peripheral figure in the past two seasons, losing his position first to Kwame Baah and now to Razak Abalora.
Multiple reports say the goalkeeper has agreed to join Hearts together with defender Abdul Ganiyu.
But reacting to the rumours, Nana Yaw Amponsah said the club has not received any offers for Felix Annan even though his contract expires at the end of the season.
“It’s negotiations and also engagement, we continue to engage players and give them the best platforms. As for speculations, we hear a lot as to whether a player will renew his contract or not, it’s a two-way affair. It happens in marriages when one can decide not to continue again despite how much you try to convince him/her,” he told Happy FM in an interview.
“Our job as management is to keep the best players, try our very best to keep the very best players and ensure they are happy. Normally I don’t want to go into specifics but you mentioned Anabila, I will never be happy with a player who’s happy for not getting playing time, but if you are a player and losses your position and you do everything possible to win it back, I like that spirit because we didn’t sign you to just come and sit idle and take a salary.”
