Wutah Kobby, a former member of defunct music group Wutah has opened up on why the group is no more.
According to Kobby, the group’s demise should be blamed on partner Afriyie as his greed and selfishness was the reason for their split.
In a telephone conversation with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Kobby revealed that after their hit song “Bronya”, Afriyie told him in the face that he wants to pursue a solo career.
He said because Afriyie was the lead singer on their songs, he was seen as the face of the group and received offers but he greedily refused to share the fruits of their labour with him.
“This my brother called me for a meeting, thinking that he was going to tell me something sensible. Only for him to tell me that he didn’t want to have anything to do with me. He didn’t want to do the group with me again, he didn’t want to do anything with me again, the group was over. That is the truth…
“Every time we made a hit and we are supposed to enjoy the fruits of that hit song, Kotosa made a hit. Because people saw him as the singer of the group, he was the one getting the calls. So he will selfishly go and enjoy all the fruits of that labor.
“The same thing happened with Bronya. Once we make a hit then he wants outs so that he can go and enjoy. And it’s not like body language… he tells me directly in the face that I’m done with you, I don’t want to do anything with you,” Kobby said.
