Actor John Dumelo says he can revive the Komenda Sugar factory if he is given the mandate.
He disclosed this on Twitter after the airing of JoyNews documentary titled “Komenda Sugar Factory: A rusting investment.”
The factory has not been in operation for more than 30 years. In 2016, attempts were made to revive it by the Mahama government after they rebuilt the factory and commissioned it. But because of lack of raw materials, the the factory has become a white elephant.
Taking to social media to express his interest in reviving the factory, Dumelo said when given the mandate, the “factory will start producing sugar within 16 months( considering planting and harvesting of sugarcane).”
