Internationally acclaimed South African artist Ryno Swart has reportedly died from Covid-19.
He was 76 years.
According to family friend Vanessa Fogel in a chat with the Weekend Argus news site, the artist passed on after a short illness.
“…Got sick very quickly. He was at home for about three to four days and then three days in the hospital. They did not have a ventilator available,” she was quoted as saying.
Swart was described by his family in a statement as one of the foremost figurative artists of the second half of the 20th century.
May his soul rest in peace.
