Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed that French coach Claude Le Roy is his all-time favourite Black Stars coach.
He disclosed this in an interview with TV3 on Wednesday.
According to Gyan, who has worked with other top coaches like Rajevac, Kwasi Appiah, and Djukovic, he picks Le Roy as the best because his excellent human relations boosted his confidence when he was not on top form as a result of injuries.
“I have worked with a lot of great coaches, but the coach who brought out the confidence in me was Claude Le Roy,” he said.
“I was battling injuries and I wasn’t in top shape during his time, but the way he related to me and gave me confidence was amazing.
“It was rather unfortunate I didn’t do much under him [Claude Le Roy] when he was around. It was the following year under ‘Milo’ my development manifested but it was Claude Le Roy who started it.”
Gyan, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ghanaian footballers of all time, is his country’s record goal scorer with 51 goals.
