After re-signing for the club, it was uncertain if Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the iconic number 7 shirt that he wore in his first spell for the club as Edison Cavani was occupying it.
But the club has now confirmed that Ronaldo will be wearing the famous 7 shirt for the 2021/22 football season while Cavani changes to jersey number 21 previously worn by Daniel James who had left for Leeds United.
Ronaldo after given the number 7 shirt thanked Cavani for leaving it for him.
“I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again. So I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi (Cavani) for this incredible gesture,” he said.
The Portuguese star has donned the number 7 shirt in all the clubs he has played for except Sporting Lisbon which he wore the number 28 shirt.
