An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Ghanaian musician Ohemaa Jacky, for allegedly defrauding by false pretense and forgery of official documents.
According to the prosecutor Detective Inspector Frederick Sarpong, the complainant Babara Adu-Boahene who is a trader and a resident of Accra, on February 2021 saw the musician advertising on her platforms her ability to secure travelling passport and resident identity cards of countries within the European Union (EU) for clients.
The complainant engaged the services of Ohemaa Jacky and paid twenty-one thousand euros (€21000) to her.
However on March 30th, 2021, she was arrested by immigration officers for presenting fake Italian passports for herself and her little daughter.
Ohemaa Jacky in court pleaded that she be granted bail on grounds of being a gospel musician and a social media influencer.
The trial judge refusing to grant the plea prayed by her lawyer Peter Sarfo, remanded her into custody till September 16, 2021 when the case will be continued.
