Ghanaian actor King Aboagye Brenya has been reported dead.
According to the veteran actor’s family, he died at the County Hospital at Abrepo in Kumasi after being rushed to the medical facility upon sudden ailment
His death was confirmed by the president of the Film Producers Association of Ghana, James Aboagye.
Speaking after a visit to the deceased family, the president of Film Producers Association of Ghana, James Aboagye in an interview with Citi News described King Aboagye Brenya as one of the forefathers of the Ghanaian film industry
He had this to say; “King Aboagye Brenya affectionately called Nana or King was one of the pioneers in the film industry when it comes to the Kumawood fraternity. He was among those who accepted the challenge to battle their colleagues in Accra for roles, despite the latter’s vast experience in the industry. He progressed very well and starred in popular and iconic movies like Kumasi Yonkoo, Asem, Odasanii. Nigerian film producers noticed his acting skill and invited him to Nigeria for movies through Mr. Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films. He fell sick about six years ago, and he did not fully recover and has been on the sick bed until late afternoon today, Wednesday, 30th September 2021”.
According to reports, the Kumawood actor has been ill for sometime now, and eventually succumbed to sickness.
He was 82.
During his hay days, the veteran actor combine acting with working at the Kumasi cultural centre
He also featured in many Ghanaian movies and a few Nigerian movies during the peak of his acting career
He owned the Ohenenana guest house at Bohyen and the Kumasiman Preparatory school also at Bohyen
King Aboagye Brenya died leaving behind his lovely wife and their nine beautiful children
His demise follows the passing of legendary Ghanaian actor Kofi Laing popularly known as Kohwe who died about two weeks ago.
Brenya’s death has triggered outpouring of grief among Ghanaians and celebrities including actor Lil Win who took to his Instagram account to pay tribute to him.
