Former US President Donald Trump has asked a federal judge to force Twitter to reinstate his account which was permanently banned in January for inciting violence.
Twitter and other social media platforms banned Trump after he was accused of inciting his supporters to attack the US Capitol in a riot.
Filing their case, Trump’s lawyers stated that “Defendant exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate.”
According to them, Twitter were forced by political rivals Democrats to ban Trump following his allegations that the 2020 elections were rigged.
And as a former president and political leader in the country it is unfair to censor his speech.
Though Twitter is formally yet to respond to the suit, the company’s chief financial officer stated in February that the 45th president of the United States is forever banned and will not be allowed back even if he runs again for office and wins.
