Watch Jojo Wollacott’s Impressive Performance At Black Star’s Training

Jojo Wollacott wants to tell Ghanaians that he is here to stay!

The Swindon Town goalkeeper has been harshly criticized by the media and section of Ghanaians following his debut call up to the Black Stars.

According to many, including Peace FM sports presenter Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the 25-year-old shot stopper is not deserving of the call up as there are far better Ghana-based goalkeepers.

“You’ve gone for a goalkeeper who plays for a third division club in England. So there is no keeper in our local league who is better than him? Granted, Richard Ofori is injured, is that the best replacement? Is Felix Annan not better than him? If he was a good goalkeeper would he be playing in the fourth tier of English football?” Dan Kwaku Yeboah stated on his show recently.

“We’ve played over 30 matches in our league and we can’t find a good goalkeeper. It will take a long time before we black people stop fooling. Had it been Akonnor who selected this guy, Ghanaians would have insulted,” he added.

But Wollacott who joined Black Stars this week ahead of the World Cup qualifier game against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast, has been very impressive in his first training with the team.

In a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Ghana Football Association, Wollacot is seen producing amazing reflexes while training with goalkeeper coach Richard Kinston and his colleagues.

His performances so far in training has made many on social media eating back their words, and now touting him as the future No.1 Black Stars goal keeper.

The Bristol-born footballer, who plays in the fourth tier of English football, has been performing well for Swindon this season, keeping four clean sheets in 10 games for the Robins.

Reacting to the Black Star call up, Jojo Wollacott said he had been anticipating it but didn’t know it will come this soon as he was not playing regularly for his team.

“It was something I was aware of before but it was never going to happen because I wasn’t playing. I found out on the Sunday after the game on Saturday last week. And it just happened quite fast,” he said.
