Government Payroll Is Full, Start Your Own Businesses If You Want To Survive – Ken Ofori Atta

When you are failed by your countries and leaders it is either you look out for yourself or you seek another country and it’s leadership which has not failed it citizen and has help to offer immigrants

Looking back to when we gained independence as a country and how far we have come with many leaders coming and going it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where the plot was lost but we all must raise our hands and share the blame in how we have all contributed to the failure of our mother Ghana

During the early days, one knew that after going through the educational system successfully there was always a job waiting for when you complete but that is not the case anymore and it is a mixture of two things, the realization of the importance of education resulting in competition for limited jobs and our inability to expand the public sector to be able to have more graduates work for the state for a fee

Now, the minister of finance, Ken Ofori Atta speaking at the 2021 graduating class of UPSA re-echoed what we all know to be true by advising the graduates of the University of Professional Studies to go into entrepreneurship if they hope to survive in Ghana whose cost of living is at its peak in recent memory, as according to him Government payroll is full and as such they will and cannot be absolved into the payroll

“… most people look for a job from government or state institutions, but that payroll is full. I can tell you that because we are spending about 60 percent of our revenue on remunerating some 650,000 people, and that is not sustainable,” he said.
