Power couple Jada Pinket Smith and Will Smith have been very open about their relationship.
The duo, who have been together for 24 years with two children, disclosed last year that they’ve been having an open marriage for years.
Opening up again about her marriage to Will on her show, ‘Red Table Talk’ on Wednesday, Oct. 27, the 50-year-old host discussed the challenges of having a consistent intimacy with your partner.
According to Jada, who had admitted to having an extra-marital affair with R&B musician August Alsina, she find it difficult having intimacy with husband Will Smith despite being together for so long.
“It’s hard,” Jada said. “The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old. That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [what you need], especially when it comes to it. It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall.”
She added “You tell me what you need. Tell me what you want, and on top of it, I know that I have to be accountable to do the same…I really try. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s deeply healthy, and I think around it, because it’s something that we don’t talk about and there’s so much fantasy around it.”
