I Started Databank From My Single Room – Finance Minister

The finance minister of Ghana, honourable Ken Ofori-Atta is the latest self made man to come out with a ‘motivational’ speech of his story of from grass to riches which he hopes will spur the youth to take their destinies into their own hands

According to the man, people usually assume he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth as is true with many Ghanaian politicians but he says he is an exception as he had to toil for all what he possesses in life now

He made this revelation as a guest speaker at the University of Professional Studies springboard program. He made it known that he did not have an easy childhood as many would think and is thankful to his mom that as a child born outside marriage she did not take the easy route of aborting him

Giving as an insight into how his schooling days were, Ken Ofori-Atta said he had to walk a mile to the only Government school in his village after going to fetch water for his mother like many kids did those days, adding that he went to school with a cocoyam in his pocket which served as his meal for the day

What really changed his destiny according to the finance minister himself is when his father brought him to Accra which he adopted quickly to and with much exposure and education he is who he is today

He spoke about how he founded Databank in a single room and encouraged young graduates from various tertiary institutions to find innovative ways to become entrepreneurs as well.
