VAR To Be Deployed In CAF Women’s Champions League Semi-Finals And Final Game

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) in its bid to eradicate all feelings of doubt and cheating in the game has decided to deploy the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the semi finals and final games of the the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in Cairo, Egypt.

This is yet another feather in the hat of CAF and must therefore be lauded in the organization’s drive to promote women’s football in Africa and also enhance professionalism and credibility.

This year’s edition of the CAF women’s champions league has left the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overwhelmed at the amount of interest it has garnered from the global community in terms of views and positive reviews. The CAF Women’s Champions League matches have been followed in over 30 countries from Africa, South America, Oceania, Europe and South America.

The semi- finals games which will see the deployment of the video assistant referee will be between Hasaacas Ladies from Ghana vrs ASFAR from Morocco and Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa vrs Malabo Kings from Equatorial Guinea

The winners of the first and second semi-finals will face off in the final on Friday November 19, 2021 in Cairo, Egypt
