Percentage On E-Levy Should Be Reduced For Easy Calculation – Nana Akomea

The 1.75% e-levy introduced in the 2022 budget, pending approval continues to attract different opinions from Ghanaians concerning its introduction and implementation and former member of parliament representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has added his voice to the ongoing symphony.

Nana Akomea previously came out to throw his support behind the newly introduced 1.75% e-levy in the 2022 budget, lauding the Government for what he termed as a brilliant move, he is however now suggesting that the 1.75% placed on the e-levy charge be reduced for easy calculation.

Speaking to this in a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ Nana Akomea said: “the budget is yet to be approved and discussions are still ongoing…the 1.75% is not cast in stone…it’s possible it can be adjusted, but as for me (I think it should be reduced) for ease of calculation.”

He further added that Ghanaians would have no qualms paying any about towards national development but that the issue is that there is always a poor sense of accountability from Government and as such Ghanaians can not trust their monies with Government.

“Ghanaians will have no trouble paying any amount; once they know what the monies are being used for”.

The is a debate currently going on in parliament concerning the approval of the 1.75% e-levy and the 2022 National budget at large with the minority caucus in parliament disproving of the e-levy
