Lionel Messi Puts GOAT Debate To Bed, With Record Seventh Ballon D’Or Win

Argentine and Paris Saint Germain Forward, Lionel Messi, has etched his name in the history books of world football and has put an end to the Greates Of All Time (GOAT) debate, that has been a hot topic for discussion in the football world, by putting some distance between himself and the second best in the world, by winning a record seventh men’s Ballon D’Or.

It is almost unreal, considering the amount of criticism the ‘little’ man had to shoulder a difficult last season at former club Barcelona, but he managed to ensure he did not finish the season with nothing to show for it, winning the Copa America for his home country, Argentina, and lay to rest the noise of him never winning anything for his National team.

His winning of his seventh Ballon D’Or was not without controversy as many people on the internet felt Polish and Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandoski was a more deserving candidate for the award and felt he had been robbed.

Messi’s latest win now means that he boast of seven men’s Ballon D’Or awards, while his closest rival and competitor for the last decade or so Cristiano is with five, With many claiming that Lionel Messi is now well and truly heads and shoulders above all those before and with him at present.
