President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has ordered a temporary ban for all ministers and their deputies for at least one month according to sources close to the presidency.
The order is the second of its kind from the President since he assumed office in January 2017. He gave a similar order on June 21, 2018, directing that all “external visits of Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MMDCEs and Heads of organs of state be suspended immediately.”
It is not yet clear as to what has prompted such an order but it is thought that as most of the ministers and their deputies also fill in as members of parliament and as parliament is still trying to find a solution to the 2022 budget statement and economic policy document, the president is minded to ensure that they do not miss out on their all important responsibility in parliament
There has been an ongoing debate in parliament over the approval of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy Document Policy which was presented to the house by the minister of finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, on behalf of the president
