Borussia Dortmund Midfielder Jude Bellingham Fined 40,000 Euros

England international and Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham has been fined 40,000 Euros by the German Football Association (DFB) for match-fixing allegations he made against referee Felix Zwayer who was the match official in their Bundesliga defeat to league leaders Bayern Munich.

The referee had in the match turned down appeals from Borussia Dortmund for a penalty only to turn around to give a penalty to their opponents Bayern Munich in what Jude Bellingham believed not to be a penalty and which proved to be the winning goal as Bayern went on to win the match by 3-2

After the game, England international Bellingham said: “You can look at a lot of the decisions in the game. You give a referee, that has match-fixed before, the biggest game in Germany. What do you expect?”

The German Football Association said in a statement on Tuesday that Bellingham “doubted and ultimately denied the referee’s impartiality” with his comments. Dortmund and their midfielder have both accepted the German Football Association’s verdict.

The player is also in trouble with the police as he is currently under investigation by the German police.
