I Have My Dad To Thank For Who I Am Today – Gyakie

There are no two ways about it, Gyakie is undoubtedly the biggest female artiste in the industry at present. She is beautiful, smart, talented and from all indications she is grateful as she has been humble enough to appreciate the role her father played in getting her to the point she is in life.

Gyakie, who is the daughter of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Nana Acheampong shed more light on the role her father played in her musical career in an interview on TV3’s showbiz programme with Giovanni Caleb.

“My dad has been an influence when it comes to my craft since I was a child. Because I got to see him perform, I got to see him backstage rehearsing with his band, I got to see how the fans were all over him, every time.”

Gyakie attributed her love for music and decision to pursue music as a career was born from the fact that she used to always watch her father practice

“And he always goes to the studio with me when he gets the time or whenever I am home. So I think he groomed my love for music. I fell in love with music because of my dad.”

The most liked Ghanaian female musician on twitter also touched on the GTco concert she is billed to perform at alongside big names like Stonebwoy, Davido, Zlatan, Adina Thembi and others at the Accra Sports Stadium on 17 December.

“Super excited. First of all, as you said, my first performance at the Accra Sports Stadium. The numbers are going to be crazy. It’s free. You don’t have an excuse if you are in Accra or you have the chance to come to Accra. This one, you are not paying anything just come good music. You will not get this anywhere.”
