Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko showed the world the gulf in quality between him and Ghanaian boxer Richard Commey in a bout in which he was head and shoulders above his Ghanaian colleague.
The Ukrainian powerhouse blitzed the former IBF world champion in their lightweight bout in New York emerging victorious on the night via a unanimous decision
The fight was so one sided and routine for the Ukrainian boxer so much so that wiping the floor with the Ghanaian boxer in the seven round in which he knocked him down, Vasiliy Lomachenko almost felt sorry for his rival in the ring and called on his corner to throw in the towel and safe him from a complete hiding.
Commey’s corner would however refuse to throw in the towel and the Ukrainian decided to in what would be to take his foot of the gas to make the fight look more competitive but still breezed his way to victory in a unanimous decision.
Lomachenko said: “I saw his situation and it was very hard for him,and that’s why I said, ‘hey, stop the fight.’
“He is a true warrior. He has a big heart and we continued and showed the people 12 great rounds.”
Vasiliy Lomachenko won the bout with a point tally of 117-110, 119-108, 119-108, ensuring that he won the bout with a unanimous decision.
