Spider-man: No way home, the latest franchise of the Spider-man movies has proved to be a big hit, beating all COVID-19 era movies to be the first pandemic-era movie to pass the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is also crowned the highest grossing movie for the year 2021, beating the likes of Chinese-made Korean War epic The Battle of Lake Changjin, its closest rival finishing at $905 million worldwide, to the punch.
The last movie to have achieved such a feat of surpassing the $1 billion mark is 2019 Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker, according to data from media data analytics firm, Comscore.
Though many have tried, no other hollywood movie has been able to even come close to reaching the $1 billion mark talkless surpassing it since the world was hit by the pandemic two years ago.
