Ghanaian YouTuber, content creator and ardent globe trotter, Wode Maya has suggested that the people of Ghana erect a statue befitting of his status in honour of former Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan.
According to Wode Maya, Asamoah Gyan has done so much for Ghana football that he is deserving of the honour suggesting that we immortalize him so that even when his mortal body draws its last breath, his statue will live on.
His suggestion is borne out of Asamoah Gyan putting Ghana on the map, revealing that any place he goes in the world and they find out he is from Ghana, the name Asamoah Gyan.
“Ghana must build you a statue cos I don’t remember any single country I visited without the netizens mentioning your name whenever I say I am from Ghana. May you Live long legend”, in a tweet to Asamoah Gyan
Asamoah Gyan is considered in most quaters in Ghana football as a legend having led the country as its striker and ending his career as Ghana’s top striker, but he will forever be remembered for his missed penalty in the 2010 South Africa world cup against Uruguay in the Quater finals in the dying minutes of second half extra time, a penalty which if he had scored will send Ghana and Africa to their first ever Semi-final appearance in the World Cup.
