Emma Raducanu Honoured By Queen To Become Youngest Female MBE Of All Time

US Open champion Emma Raducanu has become the youngest female Member of the British Empire (MBE), after being honoured by Queen Elizabeth in the British Monarch’s annual New Year’s list on Friday December 31, 2021, following the teenager’s amazing breakthrough performance at Flushing Meadows.

Emma Raducanu, 19, became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title and has followed that success up with a Member of the British Empire honour by the Queen.

Raducanu revealed she was “immensely proud” of being honoured with the Member of the British Empire title.

“This year has been full of amazing surprises for me so to end 2021 with this appointment is very special,” Raducanu said.

Emma Raducanu was one of many outstanding sports personalities to have been honoured by the Queen, with married cycling duo Laura and Jason Kenny awarded a damehood and kinghthood respectively, after their yet another record breaking campaign at the Tokyo Olympics.
