Blackstars: A bunch Of Over Pampered Footballers – Gabon 1 : Ghana 1

The second match of the Blackstars in the African Cup of Nations comes to an end and the team has only a point to show for it as their match against Gabon has ended in a 1:1 stalemate, meaning the chances of Ghana qualifying out of Group C of the African Cup of Nations is no longer in their hands but depend on results elsewhere.

The Ghana national team started the tournament in disappointing fashion as their opening African Cup of Nations match against North African side, Morocco ended in defeat for the Black Stars after suffering a 1:0 loss to Morocco.

A lot was said after the match with many Ghanaians expressing their disappointment at how far the national has fallen though not many were surprised. Ghanaian gospel singer, Sonnie Badu was even pushed to send a message to the Ghana Football Association to sit up and take the AFCON seriously.

But it would appear his message to the GFA never made it to the recipient as after the Black Stars taking the lead against the Gabonese national team, not much was seen of the team afterwards as they took to defending their slim lead rather than going on to add a cushion to their lead

Even with that they failed woefully in their duties as they failed to keep a clean sheet and allowed Gabon an equalizer in the dying embers of the game which eventually ended in a 1 all draw.

Their recent showing in Africa’s biggest tournament has laid credence to Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokuaa’s earlier comments after the national team’s loss to Morocco.

According to her Government had allocated $2 million dollars to be used for their AFCON campaign in Cameroon, something she strongly believes is a waste of taxpayers money and I am beginning to be swayed by her thoughts.
