Microsoft Purchases Game Company Activision In $69 Billion Takeover

Tech giants, Microsoft has entered into an agreement with ‘Call of Duty’ makers, Activision Blizzard, to takeover the game maker in a $68.7 billion Metaverse bet, making it the biggest gaming industry deal in history.

Microsoft made public the news of their takeover on Tuesday, the biggest deal it has ever been a part of and set to be the largest all-cash acquisition on record, and is sure to position the tech giant in a prime position of dominance in a booming videogaming market where it will fight for top spot with more established household names like Tencent and Sony. It also serves as an indicator of the American multinational’s bet on the ‘metaverse’ and virtual reality, where people can work, play and socialize as many of its competitors in the market are already doing.

“Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting category in entertainment across all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of metaverse platforms,” Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella said.
