US president Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19. According to a statement released by the White House, the President was suffering mild symptoms.
Joe Biden is the oldest person to serve as the President of the United States. Biden is said to suffer a runny nose, fatigue and an occasional dry cough. White House physician Kevin O’Connor stated that the President’s situation was not alarming. He explained that the President started show Symptoms on Wednesday night and has been isolated. According to Kevin O’Connor, the antiviral treatment drug, Paxlovid, is now being administered as a treatment.
Biden, who is 79 years old, has been vaccinated twice, and has taken a booster, spoke to the nation on Thursday through a video call. The President stated that he was ‘doing well’ and would run the presidency from his isolation room.
“I guess you heard, this morning I tested positive for Covid. But I’ve been double vaccinated, double boosted. Symptoms are mild and I really appreciate your inquires and concerns. But I’m doing well, getting a lot of work done. Going to continue to get it done and in the meantime, thanks for your concern and keep the faith. It’s gonna be OK, he said in his 20 seconds video.
But many have wondered why the President, in his address, spoke without a nose mask on the Truman Balcony. The White House says the President’s speech was recorded by people who were in nose mask and were social distancing.
In a memo addressed to the White House staff, Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, stated that the President would continue to carry out his duties from his insolation centre until he makes a full recovery. “I’ve spoken to him several times this morning already about an array of matters, and he is focused on our pending business,” the statement read.
