President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that it is the responsibility of every Ghanaian to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to safeguard the health of the country. He has therefore called on every Ghanaian to ignore all the rumours surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine and get vaccinated to curb the spread of the pandemic in the country. Addressing an audience at the 73rd annual New Year School in Accra, on Tuesday, 25 January 2022, on the theme \u201cCOVID-19 and Socio-Economic Dynamics in Ghana\u201d, President Akufo-Addo said: \u201cThe science tells us that the most efficient way to defeat the virus and go back to our normal way of life, reopen fully our economy and return our nation on to the path of progress and prosperity.\u201d He noted that majority of those who have succumbed to the pandemic are those who have not been immunised against the virus therefore calling on all to get vaccinated. \u201cAnd for the sceptics, they should take note of the data that says that 80 percent of those who are currently infected are those who have not been vaccinated. \u201cThat is enough to tell us about the value of vaccination,\u201d President Akufo-Addo said. The President further noted that, \u201ca total of 10,451,662 vaccine doses have been administered. Seven million, seventy thousand, seven hundred and nineteen persons have received at least one jab, with 3,380,949 persons fully vaccinated,\u201d across the country so far.
